Working at Narrative Science gave me a passion for natural language technology, one that continues to inspire my imagination and the occasional experiment in code. Over the summer of 2018, I applied to Y Combinator with a product idea, which I called Highlight. In large part because I was not in the position to focus on it full time, the pitch was far more vision than working product. However, that didn’t stop me from rebuilding the codebase over the course of my maternity leave in 2019.
